I really haven't been able to figure out a starting point. Spoke with DH (ranted, actually) and decided to just pick one scene in my huge folder and see what happens.
I picked a scene I wrote a year or two ago. It had more telling than showing.
So, I started rewriting it. When all was said and done, my word count was 1023. Not bad.
I haven't written like that since last year. Wrote down my word count and then attached the scene to where I "think" it fits best on my plot outline.
My internal editor kept telling me the scene sucked and needed to be rewritten. I ignored it. That is a huge deal for me. I used to write a scene or a chapter and rewrite to the point where it ended up in the trash and I moved on to something else.
I've never done a plot outline before, but then again, I've never had the balls to follow through with my writing before.
That small taste of putting a story together made me want more. I liked it. I liked it alot.
There's no turning back now. My main character hasn't left me alone for three years.
You would think I'd know his full story by now, but I don't. It could be because I kept pushing him off to the side, not opening up to it.
I'm open now, though. I'm hoping it's not too late.
