Harold
Sweet Harold was a bit of an accident, between this little feline and a random feathered friend. Mrs. Pitt didn't mean to, but Harold got a little too close to her unpredictable magic and POOF! cat-bird. Harold doesn't mind. He finds a certain freedom in soaring the skies and the mixture of cat food and bird seed is quite tasty. But, do not let Harold's cuteness fool you. He's a fast little creature and has the ability to breath fire. Mrs. Pitt has no idea where the fire power came from, but it has been useful on occasion. |
Snaggit
Snaggits are nocturnal creatures and have terribly nasty attitudes. You do not want to meet these little fellows in a dark alley or while taking a moonlit stroll. They are natural enemies of Keepums (see below), but will work together...........whatever that means. Snaggits do not have any magical abilities, but can move very fast. They live underground, but go out at night searching for human treasures. It is rare for a Snaggit to enter a human's home, but should they spy a shiny treasure the chances are great that you will here a pitter-patter across the floor. They are small creatures, but not very light on their large clawed feet. Clothes are unimportant and too restrictive. The necessaries are covered, but that is all. Snaggits have large heads with large pointed ears. Neither matches the thin frame of their bodies. How they keep from falling over is anyone's guess. Do not mistake a Snaggit for a jolly Christmas elf. They ARE NOT friendly and will chomp down on your arm or toe before you even think of touching them. |
Keepums
Keepums are extremely lazy and prefer to remain underground and wait, none to patiently, for Snaggits to return each night with full sacks of human treasures. They will roll off or out from under their dirt mounds and , like lightening, snatch the sacks right out of the Snaggits' hands. A battle for the sacks will ensue until the horizon shows the first signs of morning. They will fall asleep mid fight, until the moon is high and it all begins again. Keepums do not associate with humans, but they are just as nasty as Snaggits. Never enter a dark cave, because it might be the home of a group of Keepums. Unlike the Snaggits, the Keepums have small heads and larger bodies. With claws on their feet and hands, it makes it easy to snatch a sack. Keepums have been known to remain lying under their mounds and simply stick out a foot and hook a sack with their clawed toes. |
Lumprotter
Lumprotters do not move very fast, if they move at all.
This creature enjoys eating and sitting. It's a very large pest. Anything it comes in contact with rots, decays and or withers away.
Despite his unfortunate ability, he is a happy-go-lucky creature. You will always recognize a Lumprotter by its appearance. It is very fat and has a short reach, as its arms (and legs) are so small. It has wrinkly pink skin with two wing-like ears. You could assume the wings are merely decoration due to the size of the Lumprotter's body and you'd be right. The wings would never be able to lift the creature off the ground.
The Lumprotter can see quite far during the day or in the dark of night. His eyes are small beads of black. Midnight shadows and or the glaring sun does not bother him. His big bulbous nose has a tremendous sense of smell and its range goes for miles.
You will always find a Lumprotter talking to himself. He is his own best company. One might be afraid of the Lumprotter's wide mouth which has one large tooth on top and two small fangs at each corner on the bottom. But, no worries. The Lumprotter does not eat people.............usually. Humans give him terrible indigestion.
Lumprotters like to stick to the deepest part of the forest and normally remain in one spot. You can recognize its home by a large circular, rotted area.
Do not get close to a Lumprotter! It will only take a short time before YOU begin to rot and decay.
But, feel free to remain at a safe distance and have a conversation with him. Lumprotters love visitors and love to talk. Be forewarned, though....the Lumprotter will run on about nothing imparticular and then repeat the conversation all over again.
He is easily distracted and although he loves to talk, you will find it extremely difficult to get him to answer questions. Go ahead. Give it a try.
Female Lumprotters are rare.
Snoggit
Snoggits are cousins to the Snaggits. They live underground, but forage above.
They are hard working creatures and live deep in the forest away from the Snaggits and Keepums.
They enjoy music and will help a fellow creature in need, if they can. They do not mix with humans very much, but are not afraid or enemies of them.
Snoggits do hold grudges for a very long time, unless the person or creature is willing to go through the shaming ceremony to remove the mark against him/it.
They make and enjoy a sweet berry wine and their specialty is a sweet berry and dandelion cake.
Snoggits believe in an eye for an eye. Should a Snoggit be killed by one of their own, a human or other creature, you can expect the same in return.
Snoggits wear clothes, but when sighted, most run in fear as they are usually mistaken for their cousins.
Gleacher
A Gleacher is an amphibian-like creature and lives in the darkest part of a lake. It appears semi-human with long legs and arms.
Its fingers and toes are long and bony with thick webbing in between. There is a hole on either side of the head surrounded by a webbed fin.
The eyes are rounded and appear human, but the pupil resembles that of a frog. Its skin is pale green with the color darkening down on its fingers, toes fins, and webbing.
It can breath underwater and for a short time above. It eats smaller fish, flies and some plants by the water's edge on night's with a full moon.
Gleachers do not, usually, associate with humans or other creatures. They are indifferent and do not bother themselves with problems or things going on outside of the lake. Sometimes Gleachers can be found in the same area as Jammers.
Jammers
Jammers are jellyfish-like creatures. They are tall and thin. Their "skin" is translucent. They do not speak. They spend most of their lives underwater, but on occasion will attack on land should the prize be too great for them to pass up. Should they get a hold of you, their sting is extremely painful. The pain will take a bit to recover from, but it is the loss of strength, the feeling of being drained that takes the longest to come back from. There isn't one way to deal with the Jammers. except to stay out of the water.
Wimplewooflewog
A Wimplewooflewog is a small, plump creature. It is periwinkle in color with scales running from tip to tail and a pale spotted underside.
They have tiny, sharp teeth overlapping on the bottom and top of their mouths. With large nostrils, Wimplewooflewogs can smell for miles away. Their wings are strong and leathery with small horns at the tips that match the small curled horns on their heads.
The name comes from the sound they make when in pursuit of food or a mate.
They are meat-eaters. Their menu consists of chipmunks, mice and other smaller animals.
Wimplewooflewogs are not intelligent creatures.
Hogsnogger
Hogsnoggers are cousins to the goblins.
They are liars, cheats and big on deceiving. You can find them working for and lingering around humans.
Hogsnoggers hate humans, but enjoy money, food and whatever treasure they can get their hands on. Loyalty means nothing to them.
Plump creatures with swollen bellies (probably full of sweets and meats) and clawed feet and hands. They have long, sharp noses with almond-shaped, black, beady eyes, pointed ears, and a mouth full of sharp jagged teeth.
Spriggan
A Spriggan is a small creature, about the size of a toddler. It's body is usually thin. Overweight Spriggans are a rare sight. They come in many colors, but for the most part can mix in with their surroundings like a chameleon.
Spriggans are intelligent creatures and enjoy the occasional conversation with humans.
They do not have one particular habitat, but there are times when hanging in a tree is necessary.
It helps in the times when their passion for eavesdropping takes over.
Juicy gossip is like candy to a Spriggan; the juicier the better. Spriggans do not stay in one place too long. It's probably better that way since they do not know how to keep secrets and love to share the gossip they collect.
Gix
The Gix is a large predatory bird. It is a mixture of the mythological Roc, the central & northwestern Argentinian Argentavis, the French Diatryma (or Gastornis) and the Southern Californian Giant Teratorn.
Its feathers are black along its body and the top of its wings, with shades of gray and blue on the underside of its wings and the underbelly. They blend together down to its blue feet. Its eyes, hooked beak and knife-like talons are also gray.
The Gix is a carnivore and has a wingspan of 30 feet. It is 7 feet tall and has a body length of 5 feet with a mass of 200 pounds. Its strength and size make for a formidable opponent, though there has never been a large enough animal to best this beast. Men have hunted the Gix for meat and feathers, but none have ever succeeded or lived to tell the tale.
The Gix prefers to eat deer, fox, rabbit and the occasional bear, but it is not against eating human, dwarf, goblin, troll or Spriggan.
Its call can range from a rumbling purr for mating to an ear piercing squawk when it is angry. It makes its home in the mountains or in large rock formations.
White-Backed Odeck
The White-Backed Odeck is a small, yet ferocious bird. It has a strip of white running from the top of its head to the tip of its tail feathers. The Odeck makes its home at the top of most pine trees, but can also be found in an Oak tree and the occasional Birch.
Its beak is dagger-like and is sharp enough to stab through the frozen ground of the north, the soft earth of the south and human skin when it feels threatened. It makes a cack-cack sound as a warning, before charging its attacker.
It lays two eggs per year and is highly protective of its offspring. The White-Backed Odeck eggs are highly valued not only for their nutritional value, but also due to the fact that they strenthen any spell by 50% more. It is best to stay away from the White-Backed Odeck, but should you need one of its eggs, make sure to wear protective head and body gear made out of iron. Iron is the only thing their beaks cannot penetrate.
Boobrie
A Boobrie makes its nest in the ground and can usually be found in the south where the weather is warm. They do not like the cold and should there be a bit of a chill in the air, the Boobrie will hide in its underground nest, with or without food. The Boobrie is not a very smart bird. It prefers to walk, rather than fly. As you can imagine, the Boobrie is easy prey and that is the reason there are only 100 left in the world.
This bird is turquoise over most of its body, though its beak, feet and underbelly are red. It is a friendly creature and will greet you with a high-pitched giggle sound. Its small round head, bulbous beak, round eyes and large duck-like feet gives it a goofy, puppy-dog like quality. You will become very attached to the Boobrie. That is why it is best to remain at a distance. Boobries do not do well in human settings.
