This week I had the run of the kitchen at Merrihaven and I came up with a recipe I think you'll all enjoy.
Get your bowls and spoons ready because we're going to do a bit of baking.
Knoxby's Liver and Pickle Pie
* We're going to start with our pie crust. I found a treasure trove of goodies in the bin the gnomes were going to dump outside.
2 cups of flour
*I got lucky because the flour in the bin had bugs. I think they will add to the flavor and give a bit of crunch. The bugs are optional. You may want to pick yours out.
The best eggs are the ones that have been sitting around for a while. I got lucky, because that was exactly what the gnomes were going to throw out. They're very aromatic and remind me of my Da.
*I also found half a meatloaf. It was a bit green and fuzzy, but that's okay. I threw that into the bowl, too.
Get your hands in there and really mix it all together. When the slime begins to run through your fingers, the pie crust is ready to go in the refrigerator. Let it sit for an hour.
Grab a hunk of liver and throw it in the bowl.
*I don't know what kind I pulled out of the bin. The gnomes had been feeding the Pards with it. Any liver will do, I suppose.
2 large pickles - dice.
2 onions - These should be a bit slimy. Chop.
6 radishes - The radishes will add a really nice kick to your pie. Dice.
Add your ingredients to a bowl and like the pie crust, get your hands in there and squish it all together. Once mixed, set your bowl to the side and grab your pie crust.
Roll it out and shove it into a round tin. Make sure there are no air bubbles by pressing down and up along the sides of your tin. Scoop the pie filling into the tin and sprinkle with spices. I found one called Cayenne in the cupboard.
Bake for 1 hour.
When the hour is up, take your pie out and let it cool for a bit.
Your crust should be golden brown. Mine was gray due to the added meatloaf. Serve with pint of Bog Ale and you've got yourself a feast.
Serving size - A whole family of trolls.
Unfortunately, you'll have to take my word that it was delicious. I offered it to everyone in Merrihaven, but they all turned a bit green and ran away. Oh well. Their lose.
(*Note from the author - Knoxby's recipes are fictional. Do not try them at home.
Troll food is pretty disgusting and will make you sick.)
