But, one day, after a most tiresome appointment with a very picky chipmunk followed by a boisterous Blue Jay, Clover noticed a note pinned to her shop door. It was from Olga Owl, one of her best customers.
Darling Clover, Your services are no longer required. I have found another to make my Spring Festival gown. Signed, Olga.
Soon after, more and more notes appeared; all cancellations. Clover was very upset. If she had no customers, she couldn't create her frilly frocks and if she couldn't create her frilly frocks, she'd lose her shop. There would be nothing left.
Just before daybreak, the next morning, she happened upon Marcellious Mole. He was pinning a note to her shop door.
She asked him what was going on and who was designing the bits and bobs for the Spring Festival. Marcellious was hesitant, but with a bit of coaxing, he informed Clover that a new pixie had just arrived in the village. The new pixie could design a gown in half the time and make it shine like the stars. Her suits were as smooth as silk and her bits and bobs had left the village wanting more. Her name was Lavendar Briarton and she was located five elm trees down from Twinkles and Treasures.
Clover hurried through the village to get a look at the newcomer. Nestled in the base of an old oak tree was Fancy Frills. A lone candle burned n the window. She peeked inside and found Olga Owl having tea with a purple-haired pixie dressed in feathers and lace. Lavendar Briarton shifted in her seat and their eyes met. A sneer spread across her face. She popped out of her chair and stomped over to the window, then stuck out her tongue and yanked the curtains closed.
Clover bunched her fists at her sides and stomped her feet. Her cheeks grew hot with anger. She knew exactly who this pixie was and she was no dressmaker. Lavendar Briarton was a slimy slug and a liar.
There was only one person that could help run this charlatan out of the village. Alfred Bullwidge. There was no one more underhanded, scheming,
conniving or sneaky than that bullfrog......
